Who this is for

  • Power Platform makers and developers
  • IT admins and M365 architects responsible for Copilot governance
  • Business leads sponsoring a first Copilot Studio deployment
  • Fusion teams building with both low-code and pro-code components

Curriculum

What the program covers

Module 01

Morning — Build

  • Copilot Studio fundamentals: agents vs. copilots, the knowledge layer, topics, and where the product is heading in 2026
  • Scoping your agent: identifying the workflow, the knowledge sources, and the failure modes before opening the canvas
  • Knowledge source configuration: SharePoint, public websites, Dataverse, and the tradeoffs of each
  • Topic design for real conversations: trigger phrases, slot-filling, escalation paths, and the conversations you don't want the agent to have
  • Actions and connectors: Power Platform connectors, custom connectors, and an introduction to MCP for reaching systems outside the platform
  • Lab: each participant builds a scoped agent against a real knowledge source (bring your own SharePoint site or use the provided demo content)

Module 02

Afternoon — Govern and Ship

  • DLP policy alignment: what blocks agents, what should block agents, and how to configure environments correctly
  • Sharing controls and deployment: per-channel rollout, Teams vs. standalone, and managing the transition from pilot to production
  • Usage analytics: built-in dashboards, what to track, and how to know whether the agent is actually helping
  • Testing your agent: the adversarial question approach, content safety settings, and building a test plan your security team accepts
  • Maintenance model: how makers iterate, when to involve IT, and what the agent's lifecycle looks like after launch
  • Lab: deploy the morning's agent to a Teams channel, configure analytics, and run an adversarial test session

Why governance can’t be an afterthought

Copilot Studio makes it easy to build an agent. What it doesn’t make easy is explaining that agent to your CISO, your legal team, or the person who finds out the agent cited a confidential internal document to an external user.

This workshop is built around that problem. The afternoon isn’t a governance afterthought — it’s equal weight with the build. Every participant leaves with an agent that has been through a real DLP review, has analytics running, and has been tested adversarially. Not a prototype you have to harden later.

Who leads it

This workshop is led by our Copilot Studio practitioners — the same people who build production agents for enterprise clients. We’ve seen the governance failures in the wild, and we’ve developed the test approaches that catch them before rollout rather than after.

Formats

We run this in-person (your site or a Chicago location) and remotely. For remote delivery, the lab works over Microsoft Teams with shared environments; we find it works well. If your team is larger than eight, we recommend splitting into two cohorts — the governance lab in particular benefits from small-group discussion.

Tailored delivery

If your organization already has specific governance constraints — a particular DLP baseline, a defined Copilot Studio environment strategy, a known connector restriction — tell us before the session and we’ll build the afternoon lab around your real configuration instead of a generic demo.

Prerequisites

  • Microsoft 365 license with Copilot Studio access (or trial)
  • Power Platform Environment Admin access for governance lab
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 apps (no development background required)
  • A real use case in mind — participants get more value with a concrete workflow
